Drum-Stops Drum Clinic with Jason Bowld

Jason Bowld has been drumming for eighteen years and despite playing in an abundance of metal underground bands made his name with UK industrial rockers Pitchshifter where he has kept the throne warm for five years. Having toured and recorded world-wide with the band Jason has also written a highly innovative play-along cd-rom entitled DRUM-ROM which is aimed at drummers who want to learn modern drumming styles. In the past couple of years he has recorded for Scottish rockers ‘Hiding Place’, Ian Dench (EMF) and last year released an album entitled ‘No end in sight’ under the name of ‘This is Menace’ Jason not only played drums and guitars on the album, but also produced and mixed it. The songs were written with fellow Pitchshifter bass-player Mark Clayden. This dark/ heavy project stars guest vocalists from bands such as Hundred Reasons, Amen, Funeral for a friend, Sikth, Therapy and more. The album has received top reviews in Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Big Cheese and features some of Jason’s craziest drumming. This is Menace have also played live – unbelievable with ten vocalists!.

There is a play along cd entitled This is Metal which is based on six tracks from the ‘Menace album and you can see these being played in action at this years Download festival where This is Menace played on the third stage. Jason also runs a website called www.nufusions.com. The site is an extension to his monthly column in Rhythm magazine of the same name and aims to provide people with free lessons, news, mp3’s and more to wet the appetite of drummers who want to expand their knowledge. His new column – Metal Essentials starts in October in Rhtyhm magazine.
